MRT — what people ask first.
01What is magnetic rope testing (MRT)?
Magnetic Rope Testing is a non-destructive evaluation technique that detects internal wire breaks, corrosion, and loss of metallic area in steel wire ropes by passing a measuring head along the rope and reading the magnetic flux signature. ISO 4309 covers the methodology.
02Why does MRT matter when we already do visual inspection?
Visual inspection cannot see internal wire breaks or corrosion. ISO 4309 explicitly recognises that visual inspection alone is insufficient for ropes that have run for years — MRT is the standard method for detecting hidden deterioration before it causes failure.
03Do you sell MRT equipment, or do you do the testing?
Both. We sell AMC (Italy) ROPE 22 / 40 / 65 measuring heads and the IAS-T 13" Windows tablet for buyers who want to own the kit. We also offer testing as a service when you need it occasionally.
04What rope diameters do you cover?
ROPE 22 covers smaller-diameter ropes (8 kg head), ROPE 40 the mid-range (most-deployed in Indian crane MRT work), ROPE 65 the larger ropes (32 kg head, for port and offshore equipment).
05Are AMC heads CE certified?
Yes. AMC ROPE measuring heads are CE certified, designed in accordance with EN 12927, and the test methodology follows ISO 4309. These are factory pass-through certifications from AMC Instruments S.r.l. (Italy).
