Design and certification of MRT measuring heads
European norm covering the design, calibration, and certification of magnetic rope testing measuring heads. AMC ROPE 22 / 40 / 65 measuring heads are designed under EN 12927 and certified by AMC at the factory. We pass that certification through to the customer.
- 02 / ISO 4309
Methodology + discard criteria
International standard for the inspection and discard of steel wire ropes. Defines visible deterioration patterns, internal-wire-break thresholds, loss-of-metallic-area criteria, and the recommended use of MRT alongside visual inspection. Our service inspectors follow ISO 4309 methodology and the report references the relevant clauses.

European Conformity
AMC ROPE measuring heads are CE marked. The mark covers electrical safety, EMC, and conformity with the underlying European norms. Factory pass-through certification.
Five principles to argue with your QA team.
- 01Visual inspection alone is insufficient for ropes with significant cycle history. ISO 4309 explicitly recognises this and recommends MRT.
- 02MRT detects internal wire breaks and loss of metallic area that visual inspection cannot see.
- 03Frequency depends on duty cycle. EOT cranes need it most often (continuous duty); tower and crawler cranes less often but still routinely.
- 04MRT is non-destructive. The rope keeps running after the test.
- 05A trained reader of the IAS-T trace is as important as the head itself — that's why we run training alongside equipment sales.
